Blockchain startup OneStep Financial joins Digital Pound Foundation

We are very pleased to announce the latest addition to the Digital Pound Foundation’s membership community. OneStep Financial transforms corporate payouts into engagement and productivity tools using programmable distributed ledger technology (DLT). At the very heart of their solution is tokenised fiat cash, which is one of the reasons why they’ve joined the Digital Pound Foundation.

David Putts, Founder and CEO of OneStep Financial, says, “We are on a mission to unleash the value of programmable payments and money. As the form factor of money changes from vulnerable digital money into fully secure tokenised cash, current paper cheques and alternative payout methods will look clunky, fraud-prone, and full of operational mistakes.”

Through the Digital Pound Foundation’s Use Case Working Group, led by Individual Expert Member William Lorenz, OneStep Financial are keen to explore retail CBDC challenges and opportunities, as well as connect with the wider FinTech community.

William Lorenz, further mentions, “We are very happy that OneStep Financial has joined the Digital Pound Foundation Use Case Working Group to help us to focus on retail cases that will add value to the person on the street. We look forward to their insights and knowledge relating to programmable payment platforms and real-world applications.”

OneStep Financial also plans to participate in future roundtable discussions, webinars, and in-person events that the Digital Pound Foundation will be hosting in the coming months.

More recently, Claire Conby, Co-Founder and CRO at OneStep Financial (also Operations and Governance lead at the DPF) spoke at a Digital Pound Foundation webinar ‘What is a digital Pound really useful for?’. The webinar addressed the need for a digital Pound and sought the opinions of some of the industry’s leading experts as to where they believe a digital Pound could be most valuable. Ultimately, the panellists concluded that a well-thought-through digital Pound, supported by robust policies and education, could enable real innovation in the payments and financial services landscape. If you missed this webinar, you can watch a recording of it here.

Claire said, “Participating in the Digital Pound Foundation Use Case Webinar provided a fantastic opportunity to introduce the work that OneStep Financial is doing in the field of programmable payments to migrant and contingent workers, with confidence that the audience at Digital Pound Foundation events ensures alignment of interest and excitement in opportunities in this space”.

All members have the opportunity to get involved in any function of the Digital Pound Foundation, whether it be as a speaker at one of our online and in-person events, a participant in one of our roundtable discussions, or an active contributor to any one of our regular working groups. We currently have active working groups in areas such as use cases, payments, and policy, legal, and regulatory, and are soon to announce a privacy and identity working group as well.

“The Digital Pound Foundation is a fantastic organisation to be a part of. Its impact over the last year and a half has been incredible, to say the least. We recently held an in-person event for our members and other industry experts to address the geopolitical case for CBDCs. We had panellists from the Bank of England, blockchain company Electroneum, strategic advisory firm Global Counsel, payment solutions provider Worldline UK&I, and enterprise crypto management platform Fireblocks, and attendance from the likes of HMRC, KPMG, R3, Barclays, Accenture, JP Morgan, EY, NatWest, and Thales. The breadth and calibre of people we’re working with and are providing access to via our membership community is incredible.” – Michelle Brook, Community Manager, Digital Pound Foundation
