As one of the few FCA-registered cryptoasset firms in the UK, BCP Technologies Ltd has been a leading exchange for the past seven years. The company operates BCP.Markets (ex BitcoinPoint), a trading platform for Bitcoin, other cryptocurrencies, and stablecoins (USD, EUR, and more), while also serving as a liquidity provider for stablecoin minting. BCP Technologies is now also set to enable web3 and non-crypto companies to securely use a GBP-backed stablecoin, Tokenised GBP.

Tokenised GBP (tGBP) is a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the British Pound, combining the stability of traditional fiat currency with the benefits of blockchain technology. Backed by GBP reserves held in regulated financial institutions or UK government securities, tGBP ensures transparency, stability, and global accessibility. It is designed for seamless, 24/7 transactions, providing low-cost, instant settlement and programmability for a variety of applications, including DeFi and tokenised real-world assets. The audited Smart Contract has been live on the Ethereum blockchain since May 2024.

FCA-registered since 2021, BCP Technologies is committed to upholding a high standard of conduct, with regular audits by independent third parties ensuring the integrity of its operations.

Claire Conby, Executive Director, Digital Pound Foundation commented:

“At the Digital Pound Foundation, we closely follow developments in the evolving digital money landscape, from regulatory changes to emerging innovations. With stablecoins becoming a compelling new form of digital money, the need for a GBP-backed stablecoin is clear. We are delighted to welcome BCP and look forward to supporting, showcasing and learning from their real-life journey as a potential stablecoin issuer.”

Benoit Marzouk, CEO of BCP Technologies, commented:

“I was truly impressed by the quality of the Digital Pound Foundation’s inaugural conference, the Digital Money Event, hosted at Clifford Chance in October 2024. The team showcased exceptional expertise, and the panels were highly insightful and well-curated. The Foundation also maintains strong connections with regulators, policymakers, and the broader UK crypto ecosystem. As the first FCA-registered company seeking to distribute a GBP stablecoin, the DPF is the ideal partner for accessing high-quality information, insights, and exposure for our tGBP stablecoin. We also highly value the collaborative aspect of working with a diverse network of partners.”
