We are pleased to announce the addition of CMS to the Digital Pound Foundation’s (DPF’s) membership community. With 79 offices in over 40 countries and 5,000+ lawyers worldwide, CMS is a full service law firm which offers deep local market understanding with a global perspective. The firm has built a particular specialism in digital currencies and digital assets and represents a valuable addition to the DPF membership.
CMS will kick off its membership by hosting the DPF’s Summer Reception and Great Crypto Debate at its offices on Wednesday 19 July.
We are also delighted to announce that Chris Glennie, Partner in the Financial Services Team at CMS, will become Co-Lead of the DPF’s Policy, Legal and Regulatory Working Group. Chris was previously at the Bank of England for nearly a decade where he advised on the Bank’s work on the digital pound. As a Co-Lead, Chris will take a leading role in driving the DPF’s policy and regulatory agenda, and our explorations and thought leadership in this space. Chris will also be joining the DPF’s Steering Committee, which plays a key role in setting the governance and strategic direction of the DPF.
“We are thrilled to join the Digital Pound Foundation. With the Bank of England judging it likely that a digital pound will be needed in the future, CMS can play an important part in this critical phase for the UK by providing thought leadership within the DPF and shaping the future legal framework for central bank digital currencies and other digital assets in the UK and globally. We look forward to sharing our expertise of advising both the private and public sector in this space, which will be particularly important given the UK and a number of other jurisdictions see central bank digital currencies as a public-private partnership” commented Chris Glennie, Partner, CMS
“We are delighted to welcome CMS to the Digital Pound Foundation. CMS has long been a leader in the world of digital assets and digital currencies. Their membership of the DPF will further strengthen our ability to advocate for and demonstrate the economic and social impact and benefits to the UK that arise from both publicly- and privately-issued new forms of digital money, as well as for the financial system and market infrastructure. I look forward to working with both Chris and Diego Ballon-Ossio of Clifford Chance as Co-Leads of our Policy, Legal and Regulatory Working Group in setting the DPF’s policy agenda and priorities. ” said Jannah Patchay, Executive Director and Policy Lead, Digital Pound Foundation
