In 2024, the Crypto and Digital Assets Summit returns for its third iteration amid ongoing industry turbulence stemming from scandals and the collapse of major crypto exchanges. Despite these challenges, certain institutions remain optimistic about digital assets, particularly regarding tokenization and blockchain technology, while others are scaling back their involvement.
This disparity unfolds against a backdrop of sluggish global economic growth and elevated interest rates. As attention shifts from crypto’s speculative nature to its utility value, real-world applications for blockchain are gaining prominence. Questions abound regarding blockchain’s role in financial markets, the potential of Bitcoin ETFs, the broader utility of stablecoins, the geopolitical implications of crypto, and the path toward comprehensive industry regulation.
The Crypto and Digital Assets Summit serves as the foremost forum for traditional financial players, regulators, policymakers, and digital asset innovators. Over two days, attendees will engage in keynote interviews, networking sessions, and debates, exploring strategies for navigating institutional tokenization, expanding blockchain applications, and addressing regulatory challenges.
Notable speakers slated to appear include Julia Hoggett, CEO of the London Stock Exchange; Bim Afolami, Economic Secretary to the Treasury and City Minister of the UK Government; and Joseph Lubin, Co-Founder of Ethereum and Founder/CEO of ConsenSys.
Whilst most CBDC experiments have involved private sector technology providers, the overwhelming majority of these experiments, to date, have not involved participation from other private sector actors. The Digital Pound Foundation is unique in proposing a model whereby the public and private sectors can fully engage in the design, development and adoption of a digital Pound, thus contributing to its successful roll-out and helping drive forward the UK’s transition to a digital economy.
